Veteran financial executive Keefe Gorman serves as a managing director of investments at Merrill Lynch in Ithaca, New York. Outside of his work at Merrill Lynch, Keefe Gorman enjoys mountain biking on nearby trails. One popular mountain biking destination in the area can be found at Shindagin Hollow State Forest in Caroline, about 10 miles east of Ithaca. The 5,000-acre state forest has a multi-use trail system that is 20 miles long and is maintained by Cycle-CNY, the local section of the International Mountain Biking Association. The trails have some steep slopes and are mainly single-track, composed of dirt, shale rock, and roots. A number of the trail sections feature curbs and technical trail features developed specifically for mountain bikers. The Outer Loop is 13 miles long, proceeding clockwise around the trail network system; it is deemed a challenging bike trail. Riding in wet weather conditions is highly inadvisable due to the steep slopes and high water table. This loop features outstanding descents and climbs as well as many of what are regarded as the best trails in the area.
