ShelterBox USA Assists Those Affected by the Syrian Conflict

A top-ranked financial advisor, Keefe Gorman works with clients as a managing director of investments at Merrill Lynch in Ithaca, New York. Beyond his work at Merrill Lynch, Keefe Gorman dedicates his time and resources to several organizations, including ShelterBox USA, a nonprofit that provides emergency shelter and support services for individuals and families affected by conflict and natural disasters.

For over five years, ShelterBox has been working on the ground in Syria and the surrounding region assisting those who have been displaced by civil war. Since the beginning of the conflict in 2011, more than 12 million Syrians have been left without homes. The conflict has also spilled over into neighboring countries and led to the displacement of an additional 3.2 million people in Iraq. 

Working in partnership with organizations such as Hand in Hand for Syria and ReliefAid, ShelterBox has distributed tents, its ShelterKits, and other non-food items to individuals throughout Syria, Iraq, Greece, Turkey, and Lebanon. The organization’s ShelterKits distributed across the region contain family-size tents, water purification equipment, and other materials suited to the season and regional climate. 

Today, ShelterBox continues to assist with the Syrian refugee crisis, which is severely underfunded.
