ShelterBox USA's Latest Disaster Relief Efforts

The recipient of a bachelor's degree in economics from St. Lawrence University, Keefe Gorman is a Merrill Lynch financial advisor who has been recognized as a Top Advisor by Forbes. Outside of his work with Merrill Lynch, Keefe Gorman is a regular supporter of numerous nonprofit organizations, including ShelterBox USA. 

Founded in 2000, ShelterBox has since provided emergency shelter to more than 1.1 million people affected by natural disasters. Below are three countries the ShelterBox USA affiliate, established in 2004, have recently supported.

1. Bolivia - In February 2018, one month's worth of rain fell within 24 hours and caused severe flooding and landslides that destroyed homes and forced families to seek shelter elsewhere. ShelterBox USA officials are in Bolivia working with trusted partners to best determine how to help families who lost their homes.

2. Iraq - Despite the liberation of Mosul from Islamic State Control in July 2017, there was still a significant need for aid in the city as displaced families slowly returned to the region. Through its partners in Iraq, ShelterBox USA has provided shelter and essential aid to more than 8,000 families.

3. Philippines - Tropical Storm Temblin triggered flooding and mudslides that resulted in the death of more than 200 people in late December 2017. Additionally, more than 140,000 citizens were forced to leave their homes and take up residence in evacuation centers. ShelterBox USA has supported nearly 1,000 families with ShelterBoxes, ShelterKits, solar lights, and water carriers.
